Simple tips and techniques to help you save gas legally...

Human beings believe that being awake, moving about and doing their life means we are thinking... NOT! For example, how many of us go around town in a vehicle filled with stuff we may never use. Think about what one extra wheel or tire in the trunk along with tools we almost never use and maybe a hydraulic jack -- just in case -- will cost you every time you move that vehicle of yours from here to there and back. Clear out the trunk and other areas of your car, remove unnecessary bicycle racks or other heavy non functional items and you will save gas legally.

How much gas can you save by cleaning out your trunk?

Richard Ackermann the founder of Real Time LLC owned a transportation company in New York City that included three yellow taxi medallion cabs and a limousine. Over the years Ackermann often asked his drivers "Why would anyone want to pay to lug garbage around town?" Does it make sense to continue this practice in today's ridiculously high gas price environment? BTW (by the way in chat-speak) how much gas would we save by losing those ten to who knows how many pounds we bloated Americans lug about? If you can deal with it, do not fill the tank all the way, consider half a tank your marker and you will lessen the dead weight your tank carries.

Tire pressure, low engine oil and old transmission fluid costs you gas

Ackermann says: "If you think carefully before you act, you will learn just by evaluating your actions how much proper tire inflation, maintaining your vehicle's oil and transmission fluid fresh and filled to the brim can save you over time." Just by simply checking to see that your oil and transmission fluids are topped off (be careful to not overfill your vehicle with oil because you will blow engine gaskets that way) you will experience more pickup from the same engine you thought was weak! Try this and if you feel more comfortable just let your mechanic check your oil once a week or so. In the summer we burn plenty of additional oil.

Be careful about that free transmission fluid offer...

With regard to your transmission fluid, you need to know if you are not on top of checking and changing the tranny fluid regularly you will fall prey to that trap of the nearly free transmission fluid change offered by local mechanics and the large transmission houses you see on TV. What they do is offer to change your fluid for a third of what it should cost you, then one day later the transmission blows and stops moving...

This happens to people who are not careful about proper maintenance. The all too old transmission fluid works well in your already damaged transmission with little parts floating in the pan below the transmission. So be careful to change your transmission fluid as per your manufacturer's suggestion and perhaps a bit earlier than that to be sure you avoid this age old problem -- remember the adage that fluid is cheaper than metal! These techniques also help you save gas legally.

Hurry up and wait!

Have you seen folks who hit the gas and then hit the brakes all along their ride? Again, just because we are moving about and driving does not mean we are thinking. The thing is to use the energy and force of your vehicle to slow it down by taking your foot off the gas ahead of a stop, avoiding stomping on your brakes thereby burning the pads faster and burning gas when starting again as well as the start stop gas brake nauseating motion for the driver and the passengers.

Fossil fuel is running out, soon will have to use alternative renewable energy

As we move ahead into the days of less and less supply of fossil fuels, the high cost of gasoline and other fuels will continue to cause more and more people to get disciplined and work from their home offices or SoHos. Current technology and now thumb print identification from Toshiba and other companies makes secure login tighter and tighter. However, if you are forced to drive your vehicle then please remove everything you carry around and see if you don't save a substantial amount of gas and money by keeping the trunk and other areas of the vehicle clean.

Everybody knows driving slower saves gas, ever think about traveling light?

Yea, and it would be a very good idea to get a bicycle and lose those stubborn pounds! (Walk, swim, skate, jog, pump iron - very good for weight loss - be happy and lose stress your belly will also go down!)

Keep your vehicle in shape and save a bundle on gas and future unnecessary repairs...
